I’m inviting you to join me today at 5PM EST for the 9th and final episode of my #lockdownseries via #instalive 🖤 I’ve drifted through the most extrasensory moments over the last months in my studio, now moving on to collaborate with nature soon. I’ll be back in August with hopefully a fitter brain cell or two

Last week’s #lockdownexperiment #unkillablehope Bringing these lyrics to life I wrote 3-4 years ago so they can be free 🏽 Join me for Episode 9 next Friday the 19th at 5PM EST 🖤 You have succoured me there You have wanted me there My scars are my own But you have wished me sunk Deep in sinking load I have watched that happen to me From your eyes The eyes of a stinging snake They’ve pierced and punctured Deep deep deep Like burning coal You’ve misspent a lifetime Digging warm graves Dreaming of spring clean You have wanted me inhumed Deep in your mould I wont watch that happen to me With your claws The claws of a bird that preys They wont snap and sever Deep deep deep My former flesh Because I will always sing And wield this voice I’m full of unkillable hope I’m full of unkillable hope I’m full of unkillable hope I’m full of unkillable hope I’m full of unkillable hope

Last week's
Bringing these lyrics to life I wrote 3-4 years ago so they can be free 🏽
Join me for Episode 9 next Friday the 19th at 5PM EST 🖤

You have succoured me there
You have wanted me there
My scars are my own
But you have wished me sunk
Deep in sinking load

I have watched that happen to me
From your eyes
The eyes of a stinging snake
They've pierced and punctured
Deep deep deep
Like burning coal

You've misspent a lifetime
Digging warm graves
Dreaming of spring clean
You have wanted me inhumed
Deep in your mould

I wont watch that happen to me
With your claws
The claws of a bird that preys
They wont snap and sever
Deep deep deep
My former flesh

Because I will always sing
And wield this voice
I'm full of unkillable hope
I'm full of unkillable hope
I'm full of unkillable hope
I'm full of unkillable hope
I'm full of unkillable hope

The people giving voice to their anger are individual pieces of a movement, like drops of water to a wave. Their strength is in cohesiveness. Yet they are strangers, divided by geography, age, color and experience. Power to the resistance 🏽🏾🏿🏼 #blackouttuesday #blackout2020

Excerpt below from a grim and hauntingly poetic letter written by novelist, poet, and activist James Baldwin in 1962, which I am devastated by this morning and in light of how inexplicably and cruelly racist this country is. It’s in @newyorkermag today. A must read because the very first step is to educate ourselves on the role we all play, and our communities play in upholding systems of white supremacy. The United States holds whiteness as the unifying force. Here, for many people, the definition of “Americanness” is color. I have not been myself these last days, I am wiped, desperate, ready to explode and weeping as I read or write. That is a good thing. To do our best is no longer enough. In fact, it feels like apathy. And I am not nearly doing enough. #blacklivesmatter #southasiansforblacklives #resist #love “It is certainly sad that the awakening of one’s senses should lead to such a merciless judgment of oneself—to say nothing of the time and anguish one spends in the effort to arrive at any other—but it is also inevitable that a literal attempt to mortify the flesh should be made among black people like those with whom I grew up. Negroes in this country—and Negroes do not, strictly or legally speaking, exist in any other—are taught really to despise themselves from the moment their eyes open on the world. This world is white and they are black. White people hold the power, which means that they are superior to blacks (intrinsically, that is: God decreed it so), and the world has innumerable ways of making this difference known and felt and feared. Long before the Negro child perceives this difference, and even longer before he understands it, he has begun to react to it, he has begun to be controlled by it. Every effort made by the child’s elders to prepare him for a fate from which they cannot protect him causes him secretly, in terror, to begin to await, without knowing that he is doing so, his mysterious and inexorable punishment. He must be “good” not only in order to please his parents and not only to avoid being punished by them; behind their authority stands another, nameless and impersonal, infinitely harder to please, and bottomlessly cruel.”
